Enviromental Policy

A sustainable forest

G Plan Cabinets takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously. At its factory in Glasgow, £1 million has been spent on environmental controls.

With the KARA boiler system, the company not only hopes to do thirty times better than the government’s limits for emissions (15mg compared with 415mg per 1 million parts); the boiler will also burn all factory waste, heating the entire building, providing hot water and drying the stains and lacquers that are used in the polishing department.

All waste from the factory, including cellophane, cardboard, scrap metal and wood, is recycled. The company has its own recycling site where demolition material can be crushed and earth recycled from local building activities. Each day eighty litres of waste are reduced down to acetone and solvent, which is then used to clean the machinery.

Suppliers of timber and panels to G Plan Cabinets must all be committed to re-afforestation programmes.

G-plan Cabinets recognise the role environmental management plays in meeting the expectations of their customers. The company is therefore committed to integrate sound environmental management practices into their products and services. This will contribute to the success of the company.

G-plan Cabinets are committed to the implementation and maintenance of an effective Environmental Management System that continually meets the ISO 4001 standard.

G-plan Cabinets are committed to:

The prevention of pollution and the minimisation of the impact on the environment from its activities. This includes the minimisation of waste and use of energy, materials and natural resources.

The compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes.

The identification of objectives, targets and actions necessary for continual improvement of its environmental performance.

The application of the highest operational standards at all times and the periodical audit and review of the environmental performance.

The Joint Managing Directors take overall responsibility for the development of the Environmental policy and will provide sufficient resources and training to staff to carry out their duties with regard to this policy.

The management shall be familiar with this policy and a designated management representative shall ensure the development and implementation of procedures, programmes and relevant practices developed under the policy.
